This sapphire holds a cool, mineral blue softened by a veil of grey. Brighter sky-blue reflections appear around the edges, while the center settles into deeper slate and ocean tones, giving the stone a calm, understated depth.
The oval mixed cut balances broad flashes with smaller areas of brilliance. Light moves gradually across the face rather than all at once, allowing the grey-blue palette to remain visible through changing angles. Its gently elongated outline gives the sapphire a classic shape without losing its natural, contemporary character.
Untreated and sourced from Garba Tula, Kenya, its color remains exactly as formed within the crystal.
Grey undertones can give blue sapphire greater dimension when the cut preserves enough brightness. Here, the mixed faceting opens the outer portions of the stone while leaving a quieter depth through the center, creating a natural rhythm between light and shadow.
