This untreated Madagascar sapphire carries several colors across a remarkably slender crystal. Teal and blue-green move through the cooler areas while yellow and softer green emerge through its natural parti zoning, changing in prominence as the stone turns. With an 8.94 mm length and shallow portrait profile, the color has space to stretch across the face, creating an almost watercolor-like composition within the angular shield.
At just 2.47 mm deep, this sapphire called for a cut that would preserve its natural spread rather than sacrifice it for conventional brilliance. The precision shield portrait cut follows that architecture, using a broad face and restrained facets to frame the crystal’s individual zones of yellow, teal, blue and green. Its elongated point and asymmetrical color pattern make the stone feel less like a traditional faceted sapphire and more like a miniature piece of geometric art.
