An unusually earthy expression of green sapphire, carrying the colors of still water, shaded moss and deep forest reflected across a lagoon.
At 4.58 carats, the stone has a generous presence, with natural shifts between cool teal-green, moss and darker botanical tones. Its custom oval mix cut gives those colors room to move, alternating broad flashes with smaller points of brilliance as the stone turns.
Untreated and originating from Diego, Madagascar, it feels distinctly organic — a sapphire whose beauty comes from depth, variation and character rather than a single uniform shade.
The Lapidary’s Eye
The mixed cutting style is especially effective with this material. Larger facets open broad pools of green through the center, while the more active outer facets break the color into brighter flashes around the perimeter.
