Long, lean and distinctly architectural, this sapphire stretches its teal color across an unusually expansive face. Natural light moves through broad panes of blue-green and deeper oceanic teal, with the shallow portrait cut giving the crystal an almost glass-like openness. At nearly 11 mm long, its presence is striking for its carat weight—more about silhouette and color than concentrated depth.
At only 2.33 mm deep, this cut is an exercise in restraint. The lapidary used the sapphire’s naturally shallow proportions to create a dramatic geometric portrait rather than forcing the crystal into a conventional brilliant shape. Deliberate step facets frame the elongated outline and create linear reflections across the stone, preserving an exceptional 10.90 mm length at just 1.23 carats. The result feels closer to a piece of modern architecture than a traditional gemstone cut.
