This sapphire is built around contrast. Natural blue zoning meets clear, near-colorless crystal, allowing cool flashes to appear and recede as the stone changes angle. The lighter sections give the blue room to stand apart, creating a crisp parti effect rather than a blended overall tone.
The shield step cut gives that contrast a strong geometric framework. Broad, linear facets produce controlled reflections through the center, while the angular outline adds a contemporary edge. Light travels in distinct planes, emphasizing both the blue zoning and the transparency of the colorless portions.
Untreated and sourced from Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, its natural parti coloring has been preserved without enhancement.
