These Are Actual Gemstones

We should probably get this out of the way.

These are not bags of chips, broken stones, glass, factory rejects, or material we found underneath a desk.

The Grab Bags are built from real natural gemstones from our inventory, sourcing, and cutting projects.

Some may be smaller.

Some may be included.

Some may be unusual shapes or colors.

Some may be material we have too much of.

Some may simply make more sense in a Grab Bag than as an individual listing.

And occasionally, something gets put in there that probably should not be.

Those are the ones everyone is hoping for.

What Could Be Inside?

Every Grab Bag is selected at random, so we cannot tell you exactly what yours will contain.

That would ruin the entire point.

Depending on the tier and available inventory, stones may include:

Unheated jewel-tone sapphires

Blue, green, teal, yellow, purple, parti-colored, and other natural sapphire material.

Rose-cut sapphires and rubies

Low-profile cuts with broad facets and a completely different personality from a traditional brilliant cut.

Portrait-cut sapphires

Thin, open cuts that put color, transparency, zoning, and inclusions on display.

Custom-cut petroleum quartz

Unusual quartz material selected and cut because ordinary quartz would apparently be too easy.

Emerald and green beryl

Including Nigerian material and other green beryl-family stones when available.

Custom-cut citrine

Natural gemstone material in cuts you may not see in an ordinary jewelry store.

Opalescent sapphires

Soft, silky, cloudy, glowing sapphire material where the internal character is the entire reason we bought it.

Rose-cut opal

Natural opal in low-profile cuts that let the material, pattern, and color do the talking.

And other gemstones depending on what is on the table when we start building bags.

No two batches are exactly the same.

The Value Is Not a Mystery

Every Grab Bag is built to contain gemstones with a combined retail value of at least 4× the price of the bag.

Often it is more.

That does not mean every stone inside would necessarily be something you would have picked for yourself.

That is part of buying a Grab Bag.

You are trading control for value and surprise.

If you need one specific stone in one specific color and one specific shape, shop the regular collection.

If you would rather open a package and say:

“What the hell is this?”

You are in the right place.

The $200 Grab Bag Has Chasers

The $200 tier is where things get particularly interesting.

This is the only tier where we hide our Black Friday chaser stones.

A chaser is a higher-value gemstone randomly placed into one of the $200 Grab Bags.

Most bags will not contain one.

That is why it is a chaser.

But somebody is getting them.

And potentially other stones we decide belong in the chaos.

We cannot guarantee specific stones, colors, cuts, or combinations.

That would make them very boring Grab Bags.

A stone you would never have intentionally searched for can suddenly become the starting point for an entire piece.

When stones have identifying information available, we include what we reasonably can.

But Grab Bags are intentionally different from individually listed gemstones with complete product pages, photography, dimensions, and detailed specifications.

You are buying the surprise.

If complete documentation on one specific gemstone is important for your project, our regular collection is the better place to shop.

These Are Limited

We only make a limited number of Grab Bags.

Once a tier is gone, it is gone.

We may sell out of one tier before another.

Chaser stones do not get replenished simply because someone asks nicely.

And when Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over, the Grab Bags go back into hiding until we decide to do this again.
